We appeal to you, our audience,
our friends and neighbours, to help keep professional theatre alive and well
here in Nanaimo. Without your help some of what we do may be lost.
Only about 30% of our revenue
comes from ticket sales, the rest from fundraising of various kinds. In order
to keep ticket prices affordable we also need the support of private donors like
yourselves.
Most of the money we raise goes
right back into the community to pay suppliers, designers, carpenters,
technicians and actors, as well as staff and other costs. Some of
that money will be used to develop our Mainstage Season 'in the round.'
TheatreOne's season
includes four Mainstage plays at Nanaimo's premiere performing arts
facility - The Port Theatre. The Just Kidding Series continues at
Malaspina University-College Theatre with four presentations throughout the year, and we
continue with the highly successful 12 independent film series - Fringe
Flicks at Galaxy Cinemas.
Behind the
scenes we work with community groups, schools, Malaspina University
College, and local arts and charitable organizations, providing mentorship,
internship opportunities, and other support to foster the growth of local
artists and the arts themselves.
